Hi. How are you doing?
We are in half way through winter semester!!
In this week, we've learned about transitions in marriage.
We talked about what makes a good marriage a lot.
Especially, it is important to built desirable family traditions and atmosphere in early marriage life.
The traditions and atmosphere influence a family during entire life.
A husband and wife should be wise, contribute to family, and serve each other.
As a woman, I liked these lessons in this week, because I learned what is important after giving birth.
Not to get divorced and be happy, a husband and wife need to understand their needs and express unaffected love.
I think being a parent is really hard and important to everyone.
But the important thing is how can we deal with it in life.
As a result, a couple should play a role as parents as well as lovers wisely.
While learning these, I reflected on my childhood and my parents.
They are willing to serve family and satisfied themselves.
I am really appreciated, and I want to be example parents to my future children.

6. Week 05: Preparing for Marriage
Hi.
In this week, we talked about preparing for marriage.
We go through this process before get married: Dating - Courtship - Engagement - Marriage.
First, we go on dates with someone.
There are many functions of dating:
1. Recreation (For fun)
2. Intimacy & companionship (Experience the degree of closeness)
3. Share time
4. Make selection (Life partner)
5. Socialization
Also, three major factors of dating are "Paid for(Provide). Planned(Preside), and Paired off(Protect)
When we choose a boy friend or girl friends, the things that we should consider in a relationship are :
1. To know
2. To trust
3. To rely
4. To commit
5. To touch (sex)
Based on those things, we should choose life partner carefully.
I had been worried about choosing right life partner, because I didn't understand those functions and factors well. Now when I go on a date, I can explore my date and tell which type of relationship we are in. The lectures in this week, really helped me think about my future marriage.
Have a good weekend!!!

5. Week 04 : Gender and Family life
Hi. Class!
We have learned about gender differences and their impact on family.
Followings are what i think gender differences.
1. Males are generally heavier, taller and stronger than females.
2. Females are more emotional and express great intensity of emotion when compared to males.
3. Women are purported to have better communication skills than man
4. Women are more relationship-oriented than men.
5. Men are more competitive than women.
Absolutely, man and woman have similarities as a human being, but I think that gender roles of male and females are completely different ,because of gender differences. But i think those what are supposed to be. God made these differences on his purpose. For example, these differences can be good features in a family. A wife's feminine traits make up for her husband's defects, and vice versa. They can help each other and function better as a unit called a family. This is why God made a man and woman fall in love in each other, not homosexual. So a wife should do what her spouse can't do as his wife and mother of her children, and vice versa. No one shouldn't blame each other's defects, and should play a role in his or her ability scope. Fathers tend to play with, and mothers tend to care for, children. Fathers encourage competition; mothers encourage equity. One style encourages independence while the other encourages security. But both provide security and confidence in their own ways by communicating love and physical intimacy. The point is their responsibilities are to strike a balance. A family member shouldn't play too many roles or too little roles. When family members devoted to each other and play their own roles depending on their traits, a family will be true heaven on the earth as God said.
There is a quote from Dr. Pruett: "By 8 weeks of age, infants can tell the difference between a male or female interacting with them. This diversity, in itself, provides children with a broader, richer experience of contrasting relational interactions—more so than for children who are raised by only one gender. Whether they realize it or not, children are learning at earliest age, by sheer experience, that men and women are different and have different ways of dealing with life, other adults and children."
These are what I've learned in this week.

4. Week 03: Social class & Cultural Diversity
Hi. Time goes so fast.
It is Feb, 1st already.
Have you learned a lot so far?
In this week, we learned about social class and cultural diversity and the influences of them to families.
I have thought that both social class and cultural diversity are important factors in a family. And I realized that they influence a family a lot after I read articles and watched videos in this course.
I think those who from similar social classes tend to get happily married and last longer than people who have big differences. This is because social class makes family traditions with awareness.
But i think cultural diversity is more important that others. I have come to USA to study and go ahead. It makes me think about cultural diversity a lot. It plays a huge role of deciding features of a family. I have been influenced by Korean culture, Mormon culture, and American culture. I will keep those and apply for my future family wisely.
