Hi. The semester is getting done!
In this week, we talked about divorce and remarriage.
Nowadays the rate of divorce is increasing.
So this lesson was important.
I don't want to get divorce or remarriage, but I need to prepare for a case.
Also, if i knew this stuff, it would help me understand those who from a single parent-family.
I understood that parents are really important in a family.
I want to be a good mother and last my family.
I am really appreciated that I have my bio parents still.
I enjoyed all of the lessons that i learned though this course.
Now I am pretty confident of my future family.

12. Week 11: Parenting
Hi.
In this week, we learned about parenting.
I have never thought about parenting before.
But, through this lesson, I became confident of parenting.
Unconsciously, I am used to my parents' style.
I think it is so true that children learned from their parents a lot.
I realized that I should raise my kids wisely in the future.
I really enjoyed the lesson.

11. Week 10: Fathers & Finances
Hi.
In this week, we talked about fatherhood and finances of family system.
I realized many things through this lesson.
And also it reminds me of my father a lot.
As I mentioned in the fatherhood paper, my dad is not a good example.
I really had hard time because of his incapability.
So I hope my husband would be the opposite person.
I really want my future children to be happy in my family.
I understood a father is really important in a family.

10. Week 09: Communication & Mutual Problem Solving
Hi.
In this week, we learned the strategies for mutual decisions in a family system.
What we've learned in this week really helped my understand good family systems.
Especially, the video "Elder Henry Eyering and Elder Cleon Skousen - Inspired Unity" was so impressed. (you can watch here:http://youtu.be/JtwpPT1QQQE)
I felt that how holy a family is, how it is inspired.
I was so happy to join this church and know the gospel.
If we follow the living prophets'words, we can make our families successful and happy.

Hi.
This week I learned common family stressors.
There are so many stressors that a family can encounter.
10 significant stressor events in a family system are:
- Miscommunication
- Favoritism
- Different routines
- Financial problems
- Different expectations
- Alcoholic
- The relationship with mother in law
- Cut off conversation
- Indifference
- Smart phone(Electronic devices)
The most important thing is the way that a family response to them.
In order to last a family long, a husband and wife should deal with the stressors wisely.
I hope my future spouse and I could that well.

8. Week07: Sexual Intimacy and Family life
Hi. In this week, we talked about sexuality, which is one of important parts of marriage life.
I think sex is to make a baby as well as to express love.
So it is important to have a sex frequently after marriage to keep family life.
And after seeing the powerpoint named "Friend, Facebook, and Fidelity", I clearly decided the marital boundaries. Especially, these days that every one has facebook, it is really important to make the boundaries. It helped a lot.
Also because I had gone to girls high school, I totally agree with children need to get educated according to their genders. I will teach my future children in a different way , depending on their genders.
Through these lessons in this week, I clearly knew that which ones are important in marriage life.
Have an awesome weekend!

7. Week 06 : Transitions in marriage
Hi. How are you doing?
We are in half way through winter semester!!
In this week, we've learned about transitions in marriage.
We talked about what makes a good marriage a lot.
Especially, it is important to built desirable family traditions and atmosphere in early marriage life.
The traditions and atmosphere influence a family during entire life.
A husband and wife should be wise, contribute to family, and serve each other.
As a woman, I liked these lessons in this week, because I learned what is important after giving birth.
Not to get divorced and be happy, a husband and wife need to understand their needs and express unaffected love.
I think being a parent is really hard and important to everyone.
But the important thing is how can we deal with it in life.
As a result, a couple should play a role as parents as well as lovers wisely.
While learning these, I reflected on my childhood and my parents.
They are willing to serve family and satisfied themselves.
I am really appreciated, and I want to be example parents to my future children.

6. Week 05: Preparing for Marriage
Hi.
In this week, we talked about preparing for marriage.
We go through this process before get married: Dating - Courtship - Engagement - Marriage.
First, we go on dates with someone.
There are many functions of dating:
1. Recreation (For fun)
2. Intimacy & companionship (Experience the degree of closeness)
3. Share time
4. Make selection (Life partner)
5. Socialization
Also, three major factors of dating are "Paid for(Provide). Planned(Preside), and Paired off(Protect)
When we choose a boy friend or girl friends, the things that we should consider in a relationship are :
1. To know
2. To trust
3. To rely
4. To commit
5. To touch (sex)
Based on those things, we should choose life partner carefully.
I had been worried about choosing right life partner, because I didn't understand those functions and factors well. Now when I go on a date, I can explore my date and tell which type of relationship we are in. The lectures in this week, really helped me think about my future marriage.
Have a good weekend!!!

5. Week 04 : Gender and Family life
Hi. Class!
We have learned about gender differences and their impact on family.
Followings are what i think gender differences.
1. Males are generally heavier, taller and stronger than females.
2. Females are more emotional and express great intensity of emotion when compared to males.
3. Women are purported to have better communication skills than man
4. Women are more relationship-oriented than men.
5. Men are more competitive than women.
Absolutely, man and woman have similarities as a human being, but I think that gender roles of male and females are completely different ,because of gender differences. But i think those what are supposed to be. God made these differences on his purpose. For example, these differences can be good features in a family. A wife's feminine traits make up for her husband's defects, and vice versa. They can help each other and function better as a unit called a family. This is why God made a man and woman fall in love in each other, not homosexual. So a wife should do what her spouse can't do as his wife and mother of her children, and vice versa. No one shouldn't blame each other's defects, and should play a role in his or her ability scope. Fathers tend to play with, and mothers tend to care for, children. Fathers encourage competition; mothers encourage equity. One style encourages independence while the other encourages security. But both provide security and confidence in their own ways by communicating love and physical intimacy. The point is their responsibilities are to strike a balance. A family member shouldn't play too many roles or too little roles. When family members devoted to each other and play their own roles depending on their traits, a family will be true heaven on the earth as God said.
There is a quote from Dr. Pruett: "By 8 weeks of age, infants can tell the difference between a male or female interacting with them. This diversity, in itself, provides children with a broader, richer experience of contrasting relational interactions—more so than for children who are raised by only one gender. Whether they realize it or not, children are learning at earliest age, by sheer experience, that men and women are different and have different ways of dealing with life, other adults and children."
These are what I've learned in this week.

4. Week 03: Social class & Cultural Diversity
Hi. Time goes so fast.
It is Feb, 1st already.
Have you learned a lot so far?
In this week, we learned about social class and cultural diversity and the influences of them to families.
I have thought that both social class and cultural diversity are important factors in a family. And I realized that they influence a family a lot after I read articles and watched videos in this course.
I think those who from similar social classes tend to get happily married and last longer than people who have big differences. This is because social class makes family traditions with awareness.
But i think cultural diversity is more important that others. I have come to USA to study and go ahead. It makes me think about cultural diversity a lot. It plays a huge role of deciding features of a family. I have been influenced by Korean culture, Mormon culture, and American culture. I will keep those and apply for my future family wisely.

3. Week 02: Understanding Family Dynamics & Theories
Hi. How have you been so far?
What we learned in this week is Family Theories and Genogram.
today I would like to share what I have taken notes about the theories here.
* Theories
1)Systems theory : The intimate group must be analyzed as a whole; the group has boundaries that distinguish it from other group. People connect through symbols, such as what we wear, what we do, and words.
2)Conflict theory : All societies are characterized by inequality, conflicts, and changes as groups within the society struggle over scare resources.
3)Symbolic interaction theory : Everyone plays important roles in a family. The key word is circular causality.
4) Exchange theory : Human beings all attempt to keep our costs(time, money, emotions, energy) lower than our rewards(gratification, money, good feelings)
They are interesting to me. I have never thought my family relationships in that views.
If you have some thoughts or want to correct my post, feel free leave your comments.
Have a great weekend!

2. Week 01:Social Trends and the Family / FAML 160
Dear, my classmates.
Hi. How was your first week in this class?
In this week, we talked about trends related to the family.
The trends that interest me are Divorce, Birth rates, Births to Unmarried Women and Asian women are marrying at a later age.
Especially, I am really interested in the last trend as an Asian. haha
I think this is relative with economic factors. For example, there is a wide spread misunderstanding that people should have their own houses and cars before marriage. In my opinion, those people tend to avoid unprepared marriage like living without stable living status. So it contributes the trend. Is it same in America or another country? I want to know.
Also, we watched the video called Demographic Winter. It talked about the population growth. But I didn't get the concept of it exactly. So I need someone who can explain this in an easy way. I will really appreciate if someone does. Anyway after watching it, I though about having my children in the future, because I felt shocked with birth rates in the world.
As a convert, I had been afraid of having big families and many kids before I got baptized. Also I am from a small family which are four of us, including my parents, and a older sister. So I hadn't thought about having big families and seen them often during my life. In fact, I cared the economic factors for raising children a lot. But after watching the video, I realized that having kids is the holy privilege for human beings and how it is important.
I want you to learn a lot of things from these lesson we had in this week.
If you can help me understand through this blog, it would be best.
Have a good weekend!
